My name is Janice and I like to think of myself as a writer.

I’m also a wannabe novelist.

There – I said it. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been scrawling on my diary or making up my own story books for my parents on holiday. I guess that’s why I decided to read English Literature and got into journalism and the media. Although those days are behind me, I’m still at it. But I still for the life of me don’t quite know how this online moniker of mine started to become known. Perhaps it was all about timing – People like reading about young romance and tales of love. Perhaps it’s because I had a whole bunch of friends who were online, and who had lists of other online friends with a lot of time on their hands. Over the past few years, this site has evolved into something that’s sometimes a bit beyond me. And whatever the reason you come here, thank you for reading.

Andrew and I first met in 2002.

He popped the big question in 2005 and we were married shortly after. It amuses me sometimes, how near we were to each other all our lives but yet so far. We both went to the same school and had a whole lot of mutual friends but never met until our adult life. And this was totally by chance too. He is a wonderful man, a devoted husband and a great father, and there is not one day that passes us by that I don’t thank God for our union.

This is Rosco – Rosco Padfoot Longbottom.

He came into our lives in 2007 rather unexpectedly. One minute we were buying hamster food for Harriet and the next, we were having a two-hour long conversation over lunch about whether or not we were ready for such a big commitment. He was sold to us as a miniature daschund but we got conned ‘coz he certainly ain’t little! We paid a packet for him as well but we didn’t care at that point and all we wanted was to take the little sausage home. Having him in our lives has really changed our little family in ways in which we never imagined. He is probably the smartest and most loving dog I have ever come across in my life.

And then of course came our little princess, Sally Boo Boo.

When we realized how friendly our Rosco was, we decided to get him a little sister. And what a great decision that was! From coming home to an anxious dog, we started coming home to a house littered with toys. The two like chasing each other around the house and Rosco even lets Sally play tug with him. And despite obviously being the stronger one, Rosco often lets Sally win.

Sally’s probably not the sharpest tool in the shed but she has the biggest heart ever for a little yapper dog. She loves to hug ankles and nip toes when she says hello and she ALWAYS tells you when she is happy to see you. And she’ll rush up to kiss you if you put your face close to the ground when you greet her. She really is the world’s greatest snugglemonster.

In April ’11, we were blessed with Naomi.

Hubba and I always knew we’d want to start a family one day and 2011 was the year God decided to bless us with a daughter – Naomi.

The birth sure as hell wasn’t easy but ever sine she has arrived, our little Nae – better known as “Olive” to the readers of this blog – is truly a bundle of joy. I don’t have much previous experience with other babies but like all mothers who are obsessed with their own, I feel like she’s a great kid. She has a funny temperament and loves chatting away with all of us.

Nae has become a real Daddy’s girl over the course of the last six months, but despite my emotions getting the best of me sometimes I do feel that she knows what a Mother’s love is still. I ask her sometimes, “What’s Mummy’s secret?” And she’ll reply with a whisper and a grin, “Mummy loves Nae Nae!” I’m still getting to know her and it’s a day by day process but I’m really thankful to have a hands-on husband, great support from her grandparents and beautiful friends who have shown her – and thus us – what true friendship and love is.

charlyprofileAnd then came little Charlotte in April ’13.

As if Andrew needed another hole in his wallet in April…. All the women in his family were born this month! We knew we would want another baby but God blessed us with one sooner than we would have thunk?! When the gynae told me I was having another girl, I was overjoyed! I was so happy that Nae would get a baby sister to grow up with. The bonds of sisterhood are just priceless, especially when you’re forced to share rooms for over 20 years. Sorry Naomi. Sorry Charlotte. You’ll be doing the same!

The birth was a lot easier the second time – Not the pain but the time it took to get her out! I called her “Pops” when she was in utero since she was the size of a Poppy seed when I first found out I was having her. And so far, she is a really sweet and lovely baby. I pray she grows up as happy as her older sister and I can’t wait to see what she’s like as she grows older.

…… So.

That’s our little family described right there. So now that you know all that you possibly need to….

Happy reading and enjoy the JOURNEY!

    Hi Janice,

I understand that you are an avid biker. I am getting a cruiser bike and wonder where about in Singapore would you recommend me to ride ? Cruiser bike are very different from BMX riding. Anywhere you would recommend for safe riding ( other than East Coast Park) or rather more suitable for this type of bikes ?

What do you guys do for a living? In your pictures it seems that life is but a long paid vacation! So please tell me your secret for travelling so many places and living an active sportive life. Hi Ash, I don’t know if I ever responded to your comment. Andrew’s in Energy and I am in Communications. Our jobs have taken us to a few places and we do work very hard. I guess I just don’t do much whinging online wherever possible so it looks like life is just smooth sailing! Living a sporty and active life is all up to you, and it’s all about learning how to integrate activities into your everyday routine. All the best and I hope you’re able to find the same balance!

I chanced upon your blog, and noticed you have a big green couch that looks super comfortable. May I know what fabric it is made of, and where did you get it from? Thanks!

Hi there, we got it from a local store called Motto but I have a feeling it is now no more since (1) the website is gone (2) I tried to contact them end of last year and their service was absolutely terrible, like they didn’t give a toss about customer service in the least.

    Hi Janice(:

I am the co-founder of, a recently launched website that strives to aggregate the latest happenings and trends in Singapore.

As a reader of blogs, I personally feel that bloggers, like yourself, are naturally the trend-spotters and trendsetters for everyone else. As such, I would like to invite you to post snippets of your blog posts on our website. It is free and there are no restrictions to what you can post. (:

    What’s in it for you?
    1. Additional publicity for your blog and blog posts.
    2. Inbound links from our website to your blog. (By inserting your blog post URL whenever you submit a post to, you incrementally improve Search Engine Marketing for your blog.)
    3. Sharing of ideas with like-minded people/bloggers.

What’s in it for us is to develop a one-stop platform for sharing recommendations and ideas, and also to build a database of quality posts about the latest trends in Singapore. It would be nice if you could also put a link to on your blog.

We hope that you will be keen to join us in developing this exciting service, which has the potential to benefit the both of us, and the general public in Singapore as well.

Thank you and have a good weekend ahead!

    The Team

    Hi Janice,

I’m currently looking for a baby cot. I read that Naomi and Charly used the same cot, thus I believe it should be pretty durable? May I know where did you get it from?

  17. Cherie says:

    Hi Janice,

I started reading you in the days of livejournal and I think it was because of a friend’s friend’s or something. But what really struck me then was the sporty triathlete with so much endurance and yet, often the life of a party and pretty much, living life to the fullest. You were pretty much an inspiration to a lot of people (that’s how everyone who reads you probably get stuck) and I am one of those and still here after all these years. :)

I don’t read that often these days, but pop in once in a while when I have the time because I truly enjoyed reading your writing! Wish you happy days ahead and glad to read that you are slowly getting yourself back.
